D.I.Y. Fashion Tutorial: Hannibal Inspired Antler Headband

The Nightmare Stag

Being a "Fannibal" antlers are something I have tried to make multiple times but I was never happy with the end results, this time however I was so pleased with how freakin' simple they ended up being and how awesome they looked that I thought I would post a tutorial so you all can make them to.

YOU WILL NEED:

Let's begin...

STEP 1: Wire Frame
First I wrapped some wire around the headband to give me and anchor then I basically freehanded the design until I got a shape I was happy with, using the pilers to help flatten and twist the wire, so go crazy with one you can make them as long or as short as you want .

STEP 2: Masking Tape
To create a basic shape and form the antlers I used masking tape because it's lightweight, sticky and easy to mould. I basically wrapped tape around the wire frame to create the defined points of the antler and add mass to it so I'd have a base to work with.

STEP 3: Papier Mâché
To give the antlers strength I decided to go down the papier mache route as this would be lightweight but durable and I decided to use glue instead of flour and water to prevent mould and create a stronger base. I used small strips of newspaper and did about 3 - 4 layers letting it dry for a few hours between each layer, if you want yours thicker then add as many extra layers as you want until you're happy with the result just make sure to let it dry completely before starting on the next layer.

STEP 4: Prime
Once I had allowed my Papier mache base to dry overnight I decided to prime the base to cover up the newspaper print so I would have a nice clear and easy base to work with. Also at this point you can also sand down any lumps and bumps you don't want, I chose to keep mine a bit rustic and gnarled for a more natural effect.

STEP 5: Paint
I used acrylic to paint my antlers black and painted about 3 - 4 coats until they were opaque. As with the primer be sure to let your paint dry completely for a few hours between coats to prevent any streaking and unevenness then once you're done allow them to dry overnight to make sure the paint is completely dry before you wear them.

STEP 6: Gloss & Decorate (optional)
If you want a shiny finish to your antlers you can paint on a coat of modge podge gloss and if you wanted to add a few flowers like the antlers above just simply glue them on with a glue gun.

The Nightmare Stag

If you decide to make your own antlers be sure to let me know in the comments, I want pics!

5 Fandom Friday: Games I Love To Play

Lately I don't seem to play very many games so for #Fandom5 I struggled to think of anything I actually regularly play. After watching Tabletop I would love to get into playing more board games as they would make a refreshing change from computer games, speaking of although I spent a large chunk of my life playing games I don't really play them at all now. I used to love playing action and adventure games but now all I really have time for are cute little puzzle games which I normally play on my phone so the games I chose are the ones I have had the most play out of recently which all happen to be hella cute!

Disney Tsum Tsum
(add me: Cateaclysmic)

Phoenix Wright

Animal Crossing

Professor Layton

Katamari Damacy

On Etsy: Sushi, Cookies, Direwolves & Superheroes

House Stark Direwolf Scarves

There have been quite a few new items added into my Etsy Shop lately so I thought I would share some of them with you incase you've haven't seen them yet. I absolutely love crafting and sometimes find myself up all night working on a project, when I get in the zone I can't stop! A lot of the designs I've made lately have been projects I've had in mind for a while but haven't had much time to complete so I'm so happy to share them with everyone today.

Game of Thrones Direwolf Scarf (Lady)
It has taken me a long time to to complete my Direwolf scarf collection because I wanted to get the perfect yarn for each of them. Lady is the final addition to the collection and I decided to go with a simply grey design with silvery flecks to represent her and Sansa's innocence and youth.

Kawaii Mini Sushi Bracelet
When I first got into polymer clay jewellery making one of the 1st things I made was a sushi bracelet so I thought it was about time for an updated one now my clay skills have improved, and I had to include my absolute favourite Tamago on there to, just looking at it makes me hungry.

Pink Love Heart Macaron Bracelet
A friend mentioned that it has been a while since I made any macaron jewellery and they're right it has been almost two years since my last one. When I was in London I treated myself a huge raspberry flavoured macaron from Laduree which was super cute and just as delicious so I thought I would recreate it in clay.

Candy Cookie Bracelet
All I've been baking lately are cookies so of course I had to create some cute jewellery to match the occasion and as yummy as this one looks it probably won't taste that good but never fear I shall be posting a few of my fave cookie recipes soon.

Purple Bunny Scarf
A lot of my bunny scarves are pastel coloured so I thought I would make something a little bit darker and found this beautiful purple yarn in my stash, I think of this one as an older sibling to my Candy Violet Bunny Rabbit Scarf.

Kinder Egg have been releasing a bunch of awesome Marvel themed eggs lately so I thought I would make something awesome out of all the extra figures I have and turned them into necklaces, they all look super cute don't you think?

5 Fandom Friday: Favorite Theme Park Rides

I has been a really long time since I visited a theme park and even longer since I visited a theme park other than Disney so no doubt by the end of this post I'm going to be wanting to book my next trip to a Disney park! I can't remember a lot of the rides that I've been on and it's been that long that I'm sure some of them may have changed, there are also a bunch of rides which I wanted to go on but didn't have the time to like Tower of Terror or any of the Pixar rides but if I ever am lucky enough to visit again I'd love to try out some new rides as well as visit some of my old favourites...

Inspirational Quotes #61

"When I look in the mirror who do I want to please? Do I want to please people or do I want to please Mary first? So I began to want to please myself first. I can't please everybody. I can't be the slimmest girl. Be the best you that you can be." - Mary J. Blige

5 Fandom Friday: 5 Magical Items I Would Love To Own

This week's #Fandom5 is all about magical items we would love to own, I have to admit most of my choices relate back to travel because I would love to just instantly transport myself to another place. My Dad worked abroad a lot when I was younger and being a halfling and it doesn't matter where I am in the world half my family is always on the otherside so having my own time machine or the ability to teleport was always a big dream of mine anywho with all that being said I do have a thing for awesome magical weapons even if I'm too much of a wimp to use them...

The Tardis
So let's start with the obvious because who the hell doesn't want a Tardis? I mean it's got everything you could possibly need and can go anywhere you possibly want and it even comes in my favourite colour to.

Pixie Dust
I'd love to have a bag full of Pixie Dust on me so whenever I felt like it I could just sprinkle myself with it and fly away somewhere, with all the pretty sparkles Pixie Dust has to be the cutest form of transportation.

A Dragon
I'm pretty much surrounded by dragon paraphernalia here in Wales but I kinda like it because dragons are awesome! I'd love a dragon for similar travel reasons and also because they look badass, it would also be awesome if I could get a talking one preferably one that sounds like Smaug...

Mjolnir
Because I want to be worthy of the power of Thor and own a cool weapon...

Anything Sailor Moon related
Wands, lockets, pens, tiaras, cats it doesn't matter it's all cute, whatever they use I want, I just want to be a Magical Girl to!

5 Fandom Friday: Five Times I Totally Fangirled

I'm going to be honest there aren't that many times when I completely lose my cool and Fangirl out (blame the British genes) so I kinda found this topic difficult that being said I probably Fangirl a lot more often than I think because I have a tendency to get loud and bouncy over the tiniest things like my supermarket having kale in so anyway here are my top 5 fangirl moments

San Diego Comic Con 2013
My first time there so I think I fangirled at absolutely everything and who wouldn't? America is so enthusiastic about everything and it definitely rubbed off on me that weekend, you should totally check out my past blog posts for some epic fangirl funtimes.

Me & Stan Lee
Meeting Stan Lee
It was a very brief moment but wow, I never thought I would actually meet the man himself!

Rescue me Chin Boy and show me the stars...
When the Tardis came to town...
During the Doctor Who 50th celebrations the Tardis took a tour of the country and surprisingly popped up in out town so of course as soon as I heard about it I had to rush out for a photo.

Supernatural returning to UK TV
For some damn reason UK TV likes to ditch (Once Upon a Time) or in some cases never pick up (Agent Carter) awesome TV shows. Supernatural has be thrown about to different networks put on at ridiculous and random times and then not shown at all FOR OVER A YEAR so when it finally came back our on TV this year I got just a little bit excited about it.

Area 51 (53)
Visiting Area 51
Being a huge X-Files fan growing up as soon as I saw you could take a trip to Area 51 I had to go and it was honestly the most fun I had whilst I was in Las Vegas.
