Things That Make You Go Oooooo (March 2015)

Signs of spring have finally started to reach us here, flowers are starting to bloom and the days are getting brighter although it's still very cold outside so I'm not quite ready to go out without a coat and a scarf just yet. I think spring is a great time to get organised and get rid of all that dust literally and figuratively so I'm going to be making a real effort to do that and create a better environment for myself. I hope you enjoy this month's links...

5 Fandom Friday: One Fandom Item Styled Five Different Ways

I thought about doing different things for #Fandom5 this week, one was a collection of #OOTD photos but it has been way to gloomy and rainy to get any decent outfit shots so I thought instead I'd do a collage using stock photos of something I already had (like my Agent Carter post) but then eventually decided on styling an item I've been wanting to buy for a while with things I already have because I thought if I could figure out 5 different unique ways to style it then I could maybe justify buying it, so what is the item? It's this Sailor Moon skirt

Luna Lover
I have these awesome Luna & Artemis tights that I haven't even worn yet because I'm so scared of damaging them but I'd have to wear them with this skirt, also I'm cheating a little because I don't have this hoodie but it's on eBay for $17.99 so I'm very tempted!

Man on the Moon

I own quite a few space themed items so I thought I'd run with the theme of the moon and put together a fun summer outfit, the pop of colour from my boots and satchel add a nice touch too don't you think?

Sailor Bosozoku
Babs Tarr did an awesome thing when she drew the Sailor Scouts in Biker gear and I absolutely loved the photoshoot my LA friends did so much that I thought I'd put together a fun sailor punk outfit using my awesome Daryl Dixon jacket.

Winter Bunny
As it's pretty cold here the majority of the time I thought I better include some winter looks so I could get maximum use out of the skirt, so lots of thermals and leg warmers for this one as well as one of my awesome bunny scarves to keep me warm and toasty.

Sailor School
I put this one together partly because I want to get some use out of these "Peggy Shoes" I have so I thought as it's Sailor Moon I would go for something a bit school girl inspired and of course I had to include one of my gorgeous  flower crowns.

So what do you guys think should I buy it?

#OOTD: The Nightmare Stag

The Nightmare Stag

Hannibal is one of my favourite TV shows ever and I became quickly obsessed with it after seeing the first episode. Bryan Fuller has created such a beautiful yet grotesque world and I am in awe so I thought I would put together an outfit inspired by a constant visual theme in the show of the Wendigo and Nightmare Stag.

The Nightmare Stag

I am desperate for the next series of Hannibal to start! The acting, the visuals and the music are just perfect and it's one of the few things on TV I watch which I get completely immersed into, seriously when I'm watching it not even a car crashing through my living room could disturb me!

5 Fandom Friday: My Comfort Films

Such an awesome topic for #Fandom5 this week, last month I wrote a list called "Things To Do When You're Feeling Sad" and one of the things was to watch your favourite childhood movie because there's nothing quite like nostalgia to bring back those happy feelings. A lot of my comfort movies are ones I watched when I was a kid but I thought I would try to go with a mix of movies different movies for this list otherwise it would pretty much be all Disney movies!

You all already know I have an immense love for this movie, it's my absolute favourite Pixar movie and whenever I'm feeling sad this is my go to movie, it never fails to make me smile. I absolutely adore this film!

Velvet Goldmine
I used to watch this movie every weekend because it's just so beautiful. I'm a little obsessed with Christian Bale and he is so goddamn adorable in this movie I just want to hold him and never let go also Jonathan Rhys Meyers makes a beautiful Bowie-esque creature and the music is so good, I kinda want to live in this movie....

Spirited Away
I think it's the beautiful visuals and magical storyline that soothe me so much to watch. I love all of Studio Ghibli movies and I own every single one but this is the one I always come back to.

The Muppet Movie
The first and original Muppet movie will always be my favourite. I used to watch this almost everyday when I was a little girl in Thailand, we didn't have many English movies available to us back then so my Dad bought a bootleg of it and I watched it all the damn time. Watching it now makes me so happy and nostalgic and they have the best songs EVER!

The Darjeeling Limited
I had to include a Wes Anderson film on this list because his visuals, stories and music are just so beautiful and make great comfort movies. It's honestly hard to pick a favourite movie of his so I went with the first one I saw which started my love affair with all his movies The Darjeeling Limited

Bubble Boy
This movie is ridiculous but it's so damn funny and incredibly sweet. Swoosie Kurtz is amazing and I still can't get over Jake Gyllenhaal I mean he's an awesome actor and really can play anything. Sometimes I just want to watch something dumb and funny and this is my go to movie as it never fails to make me giggle.

"Perfect is very boring, and if you happen to have a different look, that's a celebration of human nature, I think. If we were all symmetrical and perfect, life would be very dull."

5 Fandom Friday: My Fictional BFF’s

I'm finding the topic of this weeks #Fandom5 so hard to write because it's so hard to pick just 5 people so I might have to narrow it down to 1 person per TV/Movie/Comic series to make it easier on myself although I can see even then it's gonna be a chore as there's just so many awesome characters out there I want to be friends with them all!

Dean Winchester
The first time I watched Supernatural I immediately connected with Dean, more than the good looks and the wicked sense of humour it was the fact that the guy still listened to tapes that got me because yep I will fully admit I was doing exactly the same well after cassettes went out of style! The guy loves pie almost as much as I do, he's a film nerd, a goofball and has great taste in music and you know Dean will have your back should you ever be in trouble because you ain't just a friend you family!

Brienne of Tarth
I fucking love Brienne she's strong, she's loyal, she's fierce, she's awesome! There are so many great ladies in the world of Ice and Fire that I want to be BFFs with but if I listed them all they would dominate this list so I had to choose one and that one is Brienne because like the other ladies I not only admire her strength I love how damn awkward she is it's so real and something I can totally relate to also she could teach me how to be the perfect knight.

Peggy Carter
Every since the introduction of Peggy in The First Avenger I have been a huge fan of this lady. She's smart, she's tough, she's witty, she's gorgeous and so stylish, she's a total inspiration and everything I aspire to be. I would love to hang out in 1940's New York and eat breakfast at the Automat with Peggy she seems like a complete blast to be around.

Buffy Summers
I had to add Buffy to this list although I'll admit it was a close call between her and Faith and although I think I probably relate a lot more to Faith it was Buffy who helped me navigate teenage life and helped me through some pretty rough times, so thank you Buffy for saving me.

I had such a tough time chosing this last one so I went with my ultimate childhood BFF because who doesn't want a big fluffy, goofy, cute, flying luck dragon as their best friend? Falkor is awesome 'nuff said!

Outfit Inspiration: Agent Peggy Carter

Today I thought I would share a fun little way I like to plan out my outfits. Ever since my Lolita days I would save the stock photos of items I'd bought so I could plan and put together "virtual coordinates" kinda like Cher did in Clueless and although I very rarely dress up in Lolita now I still like to do for my regular clothes. When I did my Captain America cosplay(s) I mentioned how I liked to throw a little Peggy into the mix so now I've decided to throw a little Cap into my Peggy. I got this dress from ASOS and used for my 1st Captain America cosplay at SDCC and I was planning on revamping it to more closely resemble his new suit in Age of Ultron but as I already have too many cosplay projects to handle I thought why not use it in a more casual way and then inspiration struck me why not use it for Peggy and so this outfit was born. I adore Peggy so much and Agent Carter is one of my favourite TV Shows ever! Haley Atwell is a darling and I love how she's been sharing Peggy's fashion secrets such as her lipstick, nail varnish, shoes and even perfume on her twitter and yes I totally splurged on those shoes!

If you liked this post let me know and I'll share a few more nerdy outfits I have planned.

5 Fandom Friday: Favourite Snacks & Drinks To Consume While Blogging

I love food and cooking is one of my favourite hobbies so this weeks #Fandom5 is right up my alley because it's all about snacks. My snack habits are much healthier than they used to be, I used to just live on sweets and candy but now I'll happily snack on some fruit, I love fruit and I think I could happily live on the stuff but I love trying new things in other words I will eat anything or at least I will try anything once....

Green Tea
Green Tea
Since I cut soda completely out of my diet over 5 years ago I've been living on Green Tea, I literally spend the whole day drinking green tea and although I do like to switch it up and try a different tea I always seem to gravitate back to the green stuff, at least it's a healthy habit though right?

Crispy seaweed is the best I've been snacking on the stuff ever since I was a kid and I still can't get enough. I always raid the Tao Kae Noi shop when I'm in Thailand because they have the best stuff, I love their inventive flavours and it's super crispy seriously guys seaweed is an awesome snack!

Flax Cookies
I'm all about the healthy snacks and this one is a creation of my own. I tested so many almond butter cookie recipes over the holidays and they all came out kinda wrong so I was about to give up until a bag of flax fell on my head (true story!) so I baked some cookies and SUCCESS! These are my new fave snacks and even better they're super easy and quick to make so go give them a try

Morning Coffee Ring
I was a bit of a coffee addict at one point, I even had a coffee machine in my bedroom in university which was amazing but most likely one of the causes of my insomnia so now coffee is considered a treat best enjoyed while doing something I love like exploring or blogging in Starbucks.

Popcorn Night! Popcorn
Popcorn is the best, it's one of those foods I can eat and eat and eat and never get full or fed up of which is probably not a good thing but who cares it's delicious, in fact I opened a bag when I started writing this and I've just noticed it's all gone.... whoops!

Out & About In Northern Ireland

Carrickfergus Castle

Northern Ireland has become one of my favourite places to visit in the U.K. it's such a beautiful place full natural wonders and some man made ones to that it's no wonder than HBO chose to film Game of Thrones here. I have to admit I was a little sad the Game of Thrones Exhibit wasn't going to be hosted there this year but it just means I'll have to think of another excuse to visit sometime soon.

I bought this toy for my niece when she came to stay with us in Thailand but she forgot to take it home with her so I decided to bring it back to the UK with us and we've been sending her daily photos of its adventures with us. Since Christmas however Unicorn is back in Thailand with my niece but we had a great time on our adventures together and it was a fun way of showing her what our life in the UK is like.
