Things That Make You Go Oooooo (June 2014)

.

Summer is here and I'm so excited for my adventures to begin as next week I'll be spending a few days down in London for Comic Con and then I'm off to Thailand for the summer, I can't wait! Summer is my favourite time of year and I always try to make the most of my days so whilst I'm off on my travels my blog posts may be a bit sporadic but they'll definitely be worth waiting for as there's lots of exciting stuff happening soon...

Marvel Comic Cuteness

Captain Marvel

I can't believe that in just two weeks I'll be meeting Stan Lee, so I thought in honour of The Generalissimo I would show you my Skottie Young Marvel comics collection. My comic book collection got kinda crazy so now I mostly download comics or wait for the trade books and only buy the single issues if like the artwork on the front cover, but of course I tend to like a lot of the artwork so my system of trying not to hoard comics is failing....

Skottie Young variants are my main weakness I mean just look how adorable his artwork is. I read a couple issues of the Wizard of Oz series a while back and loved his artwork but it wasn't until San Diego Comic Con last year that I became addicted. The Avengers poster was a comic con exclusive that came with my Marvel: Phase One Blu-ray box set and I couldn't get over how cute it was, I wanted more!

Hopefully I can get a couple of these issues signed by Stan The Man.
Marvel have been doing great things with their comics lately, I grew up reading mostly DC but I've really been enjoying checking out Marvel's different series so if you're looking to check out a few some of my recent favourites are Young Avengers, Avengers Assemble, Secret AvengersHawkeye, Captain Marvel and She Hulk.

What are some of your favourite comics? Be sure to let me know in the comments

How I Lost Weight, Got Fit & Fabulous

Infinite

Getting fit and healthy has been a real journey for me and I'm often shocked when I see photos of me from a few years ago because it's almost like seeing a different person. I've come a long way and it wasn't easy, but it was definitely worth it! Only you can make a difference to your life and only you can feel the difference a healthy lifestyle brings, I had absolutely no idea how unfit I actually was until I made an effort to get fit and I never want to go back to that unhealthy feeling again.

The biggest change has been introducing exercise into my daily life, I try to do a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise a day but push myself to do an hour if I have the time. I also try to follow a varied workout plan (see below for links) so my body doesn't get used to the exercises but if I'm feeling tired or too achey I take it easy and give myself a break, as long as I make some sort of effort to get off my butt for a even a small part of the day it's all good.

For the past 6 months I've been following a few different workouts plans on YouTube in an effort to tone up and improve my strength. My gym is my front room and my weights are water bottles (although I've just invested in some 5lbs weights) so when I say anyone can do this I mean anyone. Exercise has also helped me in less obvious ways, I find myself a lot more happier and energized, I sleep better, I eat better, my periods are a lot less painful and surprisingly my weak knees which I used to use as an excuse for not exercising don't even bother me any more and the greatest thing is that I actually enjoy doing it. Exercise is no longer a chore it has become a habit, something that not only has improved my body but also my mind.

I moaned for a very long time about my health, I was unhappy with myself and I always made excuses like I didn't have the time or I couldn't breathe or my knees were hurting or my ankles were weak but when push came to shove and I finally stopped moaning and did something I realised the biggest thing holding me back was myself and that I didn't have any excuses. For anyone who feels unhappy with themselves in any aspect of their life I totally encourage you to take that leap and make the change, block out those little voices and go for it your biggest enemy is yourself and you are stronger than you think just keep telling yourself everyday "I am strong and I feel like a goddamn superhero" and one day you will be!

Inspirational Quotes #51

"Every second that you spend on doubting your worth, every moment that you use to criticize yourself; is a second of your life wasted, is a moment of your life thrown away."

#OOTD: The Batman

The Batman

It's kinda strange seeing Batman as a fashion trend but after suffering through many years of a lack of imaginative and feminine geek wear I totally welcome it, although I have to admit with all this awesome choice I'm feeling the need to hoard it all before it all goes away again.

The Batman

I'm pretty sure this sweater was part of a set of PJs from Primark as I found it on sale in that section but regardless of how it's meant to be worn it was £3 and awesome so I bought it (and a Captain America sweater). I missed out on these legging when they were for sale on Romwe but thanks to Cazz and her awesome giveaway I finally managed to make them a part of my "Bat Wardrobe" and I absolutely love them, I'm pretty sure I've read most of the Grant Morrison titles they feature to.

The Batman

This necklace was a gift made for me by my lovely friend Cally, I hardly ever buy jewellery so I'm lucky to have such awesome friends who seem to know exactly what I like, also when you make so much of your own jewellery you never really think to go out and buy it...
